PRESS REVIEWS

“Fletcher blends the actor with the musician. His songs range from deeply serious to comical. Add to that duetting with his wife, Jennifer Hansen, an excellent band and the show was high on musical quality as well as entertainment…..Fletcher’s records make very clear his authenticity; this is no frivolous sideline. Fletcher takes his music seriously and keeps it quite separate from his acting career.”

                                     - Lynton Bolton Americana UK Magazine

His voice – gravelly, warm and full of character – carried songs about love, resilience and life’s twists and turns. It was the kind of delivery that felt lived-in, authentic and far removed from the glossy soap-opera sheen where most first encountered him.

Fletcher’s brand of folk-rock creates outstanding musical textures that have seemingly become his signature. Weathered and unpolished in a good way, his voice tells stories rather than simply delivering them, and the intimacy of the room allowed every lyric to land.

Standout moments included a tender ballad that hushed the room into silence, followed by a rollicking, foot-stomping number that had the audience swaying along. Fletcher’s band were tight, unfussy and clearly enjoying themselves, providing just the right lift – giving the songs space to breathe while adding punch where needed.

"Engaging, delightful, wistful and original, The Point is classically crafted whilst contemporarily composed. It’s an album that covers a wide spectrum of emotions, that shakes and stirs with infectious honesty. "

Overall Alan Fletcher delivered a show that surprised in the best possible way. He had a fantastic vocal quality throughout as well as some solid guitar playing, but what elevated the evening for me was the balance he struck between thoughtfulness and fun and the strength of his connection with the crowd. It’s safe to say he’s going to appeal to music fans way beyond just those who know him from ‘Neighbours’, and personally I’m very intrigued to see where he’s going to take his music next.

"banish all thoughts of a soap star indulging in a vanity project. Fletcher can sing, at times gravelly, elsewhere quite yearning, and he can turn in a fine song in a Prine like fashion. In addition, Bryan and his Wildes play a blinder throughout, allowing the songs a genuine touch of down home American roots music. Listen to the nimble picking on ‘Jack’, the sinewy slide guitar on ‘Somebody’ and, especially, their sublime playing on ‘Dance Of Time’ and just wallow in what an excellent combo they are"

"Alan Fletcher and Jennifer Hansen, an adorable husband-and-wife team, have shared a heartwarming and nostalgic tune about love—specifically, first love, and just how deep that love can be. Natural storytellers, the pair harmonise while the steel guitar adds a mournful edge to the song. Tell Em follows a couple who have broken up but still have feelings for each other, never sharing the depth of their emotions."

Husband and wife team Alan Fletcher and Jennifer Hansen have penned and recorded a new country duet called Tell ‘Em. The song is a heart-warming and whimsical examination of the premise that, in love, the first cut is the deepest. The song follows a couple who are no longer together - lamenting that they still have feelings for one another but will never be able to share the true depth of their passion.
